I'm co-teaching this module with Prof. Robert Johnson of UCD. My portion of the module covers statistical thermodynamics, starting with the postulates of (equilibrium) statistical mechanics and working up to different ensembles, fluctuation theory, and, at the end, just a hint of kinetics (transition-state theory).
For this module, I've piloted the use of Pluto.jl notebooks. These notebooks allow me to provide interactive visualizations and simulations that (I hope!) will help make the abstract mathematics of statistical mechanics somewhat more concrete and intuitive. These notebooks can be found here. The notes provided here are a static version of the Pluto.jl notebooks. The content is (almost) identical, but dynamic and interactive visualizations are not included.
